Today was another outstanding day. We sailed early this AM from Esna to Edfu,
where we saw the temple dedicated to Horus, the falcon god. It had been covered for years in sand, so it
was amazingly well preserved.
Cousin Stephen getting into authentic head gear.
We got out and back from Edfu with a horse and
buggy. Lots of fun. That's me with Mohammad and Aziza the horse
We then cruised down the Nile to Kom Ombo. It is so relaxing sailing along.
This guy was cooling off in the nile.
We've seen mostly egrets and herons along the Nile, but this little guy caught my ear and he and a buddie ended up hitching a ride on our boat. It's a Pied Kingfisher.
We passed a sandstone quarry used by one of the Pharaohs. I can't remember which one.
Our boat slip was right next to the Kom Ombo temple. This one is dedicated to both Horus and Sobek,
the Crocodile god.
We then saw some mummified crocodiles.
Another terrific day.
