After a long haul flight on Royal Jordanian Airlines, I arrived in Cairo. My driver Ahmed, took me out to Giza to a wonderful hotel right next to the Pyramids. Cousin Connie and Stephen were waiting for me for dinner. They arranged this Egypt trip and so far it's amazing.
I arrived after dark, but from our dinner table we saw the Great Pyramid (of Khufu or Cheops) lit up. There was a very fancy wedding taking place and they paid to have the pyramid lit. Our waiter says this doesn't happen very often.

I wandered the hotel grounds when I woke up today. It's even more beautiful than in the dark.
We can also see the smaller Pyramid of Khafre from the hotel. It still retains some of the smooth limestone casing at the top.
