Day 14: Port Elizabeth and Whales

Getting to the conference town a day early was really worth it.  I went out on a very small whale watching boat.

There were lots of birds, even before we left the dock.  A great blue heron and an Egyptian Goose--very fitting.

It was great seeing the Port Elizabeth coastline from the water.

But the real attraction were the Humpback whales.  We saw 20+ and had one that circled out boat for a long while.

We also saw what I think is a Polar Skua.  The captain of the boat says it preys on terns and small birds.

Here is a really short video of the whales.

After whale watching I came back to the BnB and met Peggy Albers and Hilary Janks.  We found a really wonderful place for dinner called Fushin.
